My work is experimental and ever changing. I think about painting through unconventional material use such as fabric and carpet, translating these into my paint palette. I use fabric and carpets as well as discarded latex paint as a source of immediate premixed colors because they reminisce the rawness and tactile-ness of think oil paint. I approach each material with a new innocence, as if I’m seeing it for the first time. I think about the materials the way they are found in the world, and the formal qualities they exhibit as discarded materials, while maintaining some of those aspects and altering as I see fit. My work is a playful and exploratory experience in the making and viewing, which pulls the viewer in through the tactile-ness and tangibility of the materials.
